Superintendent's Message: Normal Opening for Wednesday, February 25

Dear Port Washington Families,

At this time, we are planning for a normal opening of school on Wednesday, February 25th.  Our Facilities Department has worked tirelessly throughout the storm clearing parking lots, walkways, and entrances to ensure our schools are safe and ready to welcome students and staff back. We are deeply appreciative of their efforts.

Our transportation provider has also confirmed that they are prepared to operate on a normal schedule. That said, due to yesterday’s storm, there may be some lingering transportation delays. We appreciate your patience if buses arrive a bit later than usual.

As we return to our buildings, I want to thank you for your flexibility and partnership over the past several days. Weather events like this require quick adjustments, and we are grateful for the patience and understanding our families have shown.

While our campuses will be prepared, some sidewalks and neighborhood roads may still be affected by snow and ice. Students who walk to school should take extra care in the morning.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will share any updates, if needed, by 6:00 a.m. If you do not hear from us, please assume that schools will open on a normal schedule.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow. Please travel safely.

Sincerely,

Gaurav Passi, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
