Dismissal Options
DEFINITIONS OF DISMISSAL OPTIONS:
Bus Assigned to Home: This is the bus assigned by transportation. If necessary, please plan to have someone at the bus stop waiting. The bus driver is solely responsible for getting the child safely to the stop. They are not responsible for making sure there is someone waiting.
Right At School, KidsPort, Spectrum, and Friends Together: These are after-school programs in which one needs to be enrolled. Students enrolled in Right At School (RAS) will be released to the gym at the end of the day. Students enrolled in KidsPort, Spectrum or Friends Together will be bussed from Daly at the end of the school day.
Please be sure to also inform the school when enrolling in, withdrawing from, or making changes to your child’s schedule for these programs so that we can confirm the information on the rosters received from the programs.
There are two options for parents to pick up their child from school:
1. Parent Pick Up: Your child will be released from the doors at the end of the PreK hallway. Park your car, enter through the gate on Rockwood Avenue across from Fairfield Avenue and meet your child at door B.
Your child will not be allowed to leave the building unless a recognized adult comes to the door.
2. Opt-Out Walker means your child will be allowed to leave on their own.
Dismissal Changes
E-mails requesting a change in your child’s dismissal should be sent to [email protected] before 10:30 a.m. on the day of the requested change.
We open, read, and send a confirmation email to dismissal messages once a day, at 10:30 a.m. The e-mails are printed and placed in teachers’ mailboxes to be picked up during their lunchtime. Dismissal emails are not checked again until the following school day. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, assume that we did not get the message – please call the office to check or your child’s dismissal may not be changed that day.
If you have an emergency and must request a change after the 10:30 a.m. deadline, do not send an e-mail without calling the office first to alert us and we will then reopen the e-mails to look for your message.
To avoid dismissal confusion, please send your dismissal e-mail to [email protected] and not directly to the teacher. Teachers cannot always check their email while teaching, and if he/she is absent, the substitute will not get the message.
Alternatively, a written note changing your child’s dismissal may be sent in your child’s backpack. If you are picking up your child early (before lunchtime), please send a written note to the teacher, instead of emailing it, so that the teacher will be aware.
The [email protected] address is for late in the day dismissal changes only, all other messages will be disregarded. If your child will be absent or late, you must call the attendance line (516-767-5211).
