Special Areas

Library/Media, Physical Education, Art, Music and PEP are part of the instructional program. A specialist in each discipline staffs each subject. Students are scheduled for physical education twice a week; art, library, and general music are each scheduled once a week.

Music

Instrumental Music

A program of instrumental music begins in the third grade with instruction in playing the recorder. String lessons, as well as woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments usually begin in fourth grade. Lessons are scheduled during regular classroom time.

Orchestra

The orchestra is composed primarily of fourth- and fifth-grade students. Orchestra practice is held once a week.

Band

The band is composed primarily of fourth- and fifth-grade students. Band practice is held once a week.

Chorus

Fourth- and fifth-grade students participate in the school chorus. Chorus rehearsal occurs during the school day.
